Spokane Shock Press Release
SPOKANE, WA – Spokane Shock offensive lineman and former Washington State University Cougar Andrew Roxas recently strolled into a place that he hadn’t been to since 2007…a barbershop.
After growing his hair out over the past six years and only having a few trims done here and there to manage the growth, Andrew decided it was time to cut it off and saw Locks of Love as the perfect opportunity to give back, as well as honor his mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer when he was a sophomore at St. Francis High School. Since the school’s dress code policies did not allow students to have long hair, Andrew began growing it out once he began his collegiate career. Andrew’s mother's cancer has now been in remission for eight years.
Recently, Andrew stepped into Fantastic Sam’s in Burbank, CA and cut off not one, but two 14-inch ponytails which were immediately mailed off to Locks of Love in West Palm Beach, FL.
"It was a great feeling being able to cut it to honor my mom," Roxas said. "It’s definitely different not having it but my hair will grow back, hopefully."
