JACKSONVILLE – The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks have announced the schedule of Theme Nights and promotions for the upcoming 2013 season. Once again, the Sharks will offer a variety of themes designed to deliver the ultimate fan experience at Sea Best Field. In addition, the team will incorporate a number of Appreciation Nights and other initiatives to directly benefit the Jacksonville community.
The Sharks’ home schedule opens on April 12 against the New Orleans VooDoo, and you might want to break out your wire-rimmed glasses and calculators, as the 2013 season will kick off with Nerd Night. It’ll also be College Night – if you’re working hard toward your degree, we want to reward you! Students from any post-secondary school, be it a college, university or trade school, are eligible for Buy One, Get One Free tickets to this game with the presentation of a school ID. Professors, administrators, and employees of post-secondary institutions are eligible for this ticket special as well.
On April 19, the Sharks will hold the team’s first-ever Faith and Family Night, which will feature a concert from a faith-based artist. More specific details of the pregame concert will be announced at a later date. The Sharks will also team up with Second Harvest North Florida to hold a food drive at this game. By making a donation of canned food, Shark fans can help Second Harvest work to end hunger in our local community.
After a quick road trip, the team returns to Sea Best Field on May 4 for Education Appreciation Night. The centerpiece of this night will be the culmination of Chum’s Reading Initiative, which has been launched in over 40 elementary schools in the Jacksonville area. Each student in a participating school who meets each of their first three quarter reading goals will receive a free ticket to this game with the purchase of an adult ticket. Additionally, teachers, administrators and school employees are eligible for Buy One, Get One Free tickets to this game with the presentation of a school ID.
On May 18 against the San Jose SaberCats, the Sharks will once again honor the sacrifices made by our nation’s Armed Forces on Military Appreciation Night. For the third consecutive year, the Sharks will use this night as a platform to generate donations to a local military-related organization. To work toward this goal, we will hold a postgame jersey auction, and offer both Attack Dance Team military posters and special military t-shirts in exchange for a donation. Last season, the Sharks organization, Shark fans and Taco Bell teamed up to raise over $31,000 for the Armed Forces Families Foundation – donations that were used to build two children’s playgrounds at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. All current military personnel – both active and retired – and their families will be eligible for Buy One, Get One Free tickets to this game with the presentation of a military ID.
The beginning of June means that summer is right around the corner, making June 1 the perfect night for the return of Shark-A-Ritaville. We will turn Sea Best Field into a tropical paradise as the Sharks host the Pittsburgh Power. The Sharks, First Class Athletics and the Attack Dance Team will hold the annual Junior Attack Dance Camp on the weekend of this game.
A second popular theme will return on June 22, as the Sharks take on the Cleveland Gladiators for Halloween in June. On this spooky evening, we encourage all our fans to break out their favorite costume or try something new for the upcoming holiday. For the second straight year, Warehouse 31 will also be on hand with characters in costume and a Haunted House for fans to experience in the arena concourse. 2013 edition of the Sharks Youth Football Camp will also be held on this day, as your young football player will get a chance to learn the tricks of the trade from Sharks players and coaches!
June 29 sees the Sharks take on the archrival Orlando Predators, which can only mean one thing – Redneck Night! Wear your inner hillbilly with pride as the Sharks go for a fourth straight home win against this in-state opponent. We’ll also be giving away blood towels to every fan in attendance!
We’re getting in the holiday spirit early in 2013, as we deck the halls for Christmas in July on the 13th of that month. We guarantee you’ll have a jolly time as the Sharks host the Spokane Shock – the more Santa suits, the merrier! We’ll be giving away “Santa Moss” ornaments to the first 1,500 fans in attendance, and have plenty of other great gifts in store.
Finally, the regular season wraps up on July 27 with 80s Night, as we celebrate the unique style and music of that decade. This will also be our annual Fan Appreciation Night, as we spend the game giving back to you with merchandise specials, great prizes and a whole lot more.
