VooDoo Set To Travel To Jacksonville Sharks

NEW ORLEANS (March 23, 2011) – The New Orleans VooDoo will embark on its first road trip of the season, traveling to the Jacksonville Sharks on Saturday.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CST

The VooDoo (0-2, 0-2) lost last time out, falling to the Orlando Predators 47-34 in The Graveyard, while the Sharks (1-1, 1-0) won handedly, 71-57, over the Georgia Force. 

New Orleans enters the game with the AFL’s third ranked rushing attack with 72 yards total in two games. The team’s defense is also ranked sixth against the pass (222.0 yards/game) and in total defense (254.0 yards/game).  Jacksonville counters with the third ranked scoring offense (61.5 points/game) in the league heading into the game.

Standing atop the league in all-purpose yards is VooDoo wide receiver/kick returner PJ Berry.  Berry is averaging 242.5 yards/game, and is coming off of a 252-yard, three touchdown performance against the Orlando Predators.  The Hopewell, Va. native is also tied for third in scoring average with 21.0 points/game.

Jacksonville’s kicker Marco Capozzoli leads all kickers with three made field goals, and is 8-of-14 on point after attempts thru two games.  In the Sharks last game, longtime AFL quarterback Aaron Garcia only had 177 yards, but did have six touchdown passes to lead the fins to victory.
