TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired defensive lineman Richard Jones, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.
“We want to continually raise the level of competition at all positions,” said Gooch. “We feel the addition of Richard to the defensive line gives us greater depth as we get closer to the start of training camp.”
Jones (6-foot-1, 270 lbs., Texas Tech) appeared in 49 games, from 2006-2009, for the Red Raiders and accumulated 101 tackles at the defensive tackles position. In 2010, he played for the B.C. Lions in the Canadian Football League and was released in 2011 prior to the start of training camp.
A native of Lamarque, TX, he was named the Greater Houston Defensive Player of the Year by the Houston Touchdown Club.
