JACKSONVILLE – The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that fullback Rendrick Taylor has been assigned to the team’s 2012 roster.
The 24-year-old Taylor (6’2”, 270) finished the 2010 season as part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad. He had been with the team in training camp, was waived on September 4 and returned to Tampa in December. The Buccaneers then waived Taylor on August 29, 2011.
Before beginning his professional career, Taylor played at Clemson University. Taylor played wide receiver for his first three years at Clemson, totaling 46 receptions for 480 yards and one touchdown from 2005 to 2007. After redshirting the 2008 season due to injury, Taylor moved to fullback in 2009 and carried the ball 13 times for 37 yards and caught eight passes for 43 yards. As a blocker, Taylor helped Clemson average 170.4 rushing yards per game and 4.8 yards per carry during that season.
Taylor is a native of Clio, SC and played at Marlboro County High School.
