HENDERSONVILLE, TENN. – The much-anticipated Allstate BCS National Championship Game tonight will host the two top-ranked college football teams, LSU and Alabama. Head football coaches Nick Saban (Alabama) and Les Miles (LSU) will be on opposing teams on the playing field during the championship game, but they work together on the same team when it comes to one of our nation’s most crucial subjects, youth suicide prevention.
Both Saban and Miles serve as Ambassadors for The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) through the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA); The Jason Foundation’s National Awareness Affiliate since 2003. The Jason Foundation is also entering their second season as proud partners of the Arena Football League. During the 2011 AFL season, the Jason Foundation was featured on “Arena Football Friday” broadcasts on NFL Network.
JFI is a youth suicide prevention and awareness organization, dedicated to educating people on the health epidemic that is taking over 100 of our nation’s youth each week. The AFCA and JFI make an extraordinary team due to the AFCA’s unique position to reach many young people in hopes to change some of the alarming statistics. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24 and this is a statistic that the AFCA and JFI hope to see change.
Many coaches from the AFCA serve as Ambassadors for The Jason Foundation as well.
