MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Mustangs announce that training camp for the 2012 season kicks off Thursday, Feb. 16. Approximately one month before its regular-season opener on March 17 at Arizona, the stampede is making its way back to Milwaukee.
The Mustangs guarantee one spot at training camp from the open tryout, which takes place on Sunday Feb. 19 at the Sturtevant Sportsplex in Sturtevant, Wis. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and workouts will start at 7:45 a.m.
The first day of mini-camp is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17. The first few days of camp consist of introductory meetings that allow rookies the chance to adapt to the on-field proceedings, while veterans have the opportunity to get back in their routines.
Full-padded practices will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and run through Saturday, March 3. At this time, camp will be down to the final 24-man roster and the team’s first “game week” preparation for their season opener against the Rattlers begins on March 6.
Training camp will take place at the team’s practice facility in Brookfield, Wis.
Among the players returning to the stampede are QB Gino Guidugli, WR/LB Marcus Everett and DE Luis Vasquez.
