Command Assigned Super Bowl XLV Champion LB

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Command has been assigned Super Bowl XLV champion linebacker Diyral Briggs (6-3, 248) today, announced Command director of player personnel Ryan Myers.  Briggs played in five games for the Green Bay Packers last year, helping the Packers win its fourth Super Bowl title.

“Diyral brings a unique skill-set in terms of his natural athletic ability and technique as a pass rusher,” Myers said.  “He understands how to read an offensive lineman and beat people one-on-one.  We’re thrilled to add this dynamic player to our football team.”

Briggs entered the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2009 with the San Francisco 49ers.  He joined Green Bay in the middle of the 2010 season, moving up from the Denver Broncos’ practice squad.  Command quarterback Nate Davis, who played with Briggs in San Francisco, is looking forward to what his former 49er teammate will bring to Kansas City.

“He’s a very hard worker,” Davis said.  “He’s quick off the ball and athletic.  He’ll bring a ton of energy to the defensive side of the ball and to this team as a whole.”

Briggs is the fifth player from the Mid American Conference assigned to the Command this offseason.  The Command’s 2012 training camp is slated to begin next month, with the team’s home-opener set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday, March 16 at Sprint Center.
